Free Compost/Gardening Class Scheduled for Sat., Aug. 2
Don't bag your leaves. Compost them! Compost is one of the best ways to amend your soil for the planing and growing season. Most importantly, composting keeps organic waste out of the landfill and returns valuable fertilizer to the earth. As it adds nutrients to the soil, it improves soild structure and increases the ground's ability to hold water. Compost is super easy---come learn how!
Garland Environmental Waste Services and Keep Garland Beautiful will host the spring Compost 101 class on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at 1434 Commerce St.
Training will include instructions on compost ingredients, benefits of building healthy soil using compost, how to manage the compost pile and hands-on demonstration to build a compost pile. Attendees will be eligible for door prize drawings for compost bins.
Class is open to Garland residents and class size is limited to 50. Registration is required by July 30.
Register early! Click here for registration form or call 972-205-3500 to sign up.
